A Celebration of Life for Vincent (Vinnie) Gurganus

Vinnie was born to the late Brenda and Johnson Gurganus on October 7, 1963, the youngest of the Gurganus clan. He passed on Saturday, March 4, 2023, after a prolonged and difficult illness. He was preceded in death by his sister Dawn Renee.
Vinnie was educated in the public schools of Bridgeport, CT, where he resided his entire life. He worked for St. Vincents Hospital, Bridgeport, CT for over 20+ years as a Buying Manager.
Vinnie was the nucleus of the Gurganus family. He particularly loved and focused his attention on his young nieces and nephews. He used his bright light to act as a caring father, Godfather, uncle, counselor, brother and loyal friend to his many family members and friends. He attended as many school events, birthdays, baby showers, as possible. He was always assuring that the family felt his love, support and respect.
In all things Vinnie was larger than life. With his best friend and husband, Larry Murchison, he enthusiastically embraced life's challenges. Vinnie loved to entertain by cooking delicious gourmet meals which delighted the palate and warmed the soul. All were invited to enjoy. Parties, storytelling, cooking and taking interesting vacations were his specialty. It was nothing for him to jump in his car and drive from Bridgeport to Myrtle Beach for a day in the sun or to Birmingham, Alabama to check on his niece. He was always in motion.
Vinnie leaves to cherish his memory, his husband, Lars Murchison; sisters, Elaine Jones and Deborah Gonzalez (Alfredo); brother Brian (Melissa); aunt Blanche Hamilton and a special niece Leslie; great nephews, Tariq and Syair; great niece, Taray and great-great, nephew Ashton. Vinnie also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Vinnie was a firm believer in having a good time.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM, Baker-Isaac Funeral Services Chapel, 985 Stratford Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Family will receive guest from 10:00 AM until time of service at the Chapel. Interment will be private.
