Celebrating the Life of Timothy Jermaine Byrd
September 16, 1976 – August 18, 2026

Timothy Jermaine Byrd, affectionately known to everyone as “Tim Dog” passed away on August 18, 2026. Born on September 16, 1976, in Andalusia, Alabama, Tim grew up to be a man defined by his hard work and, above all, his deep devotion to his family.

A graduate of Westhill High School in Stamford, Connecticut, Tim possessed a natural entrepreneurial spirit. He had a rare gift for turning creative ideas into successful ventures, most notably as the proud owner of TJ’s Party Rentals, LLC. Through his business, Tim brought joy to countless events for those celebrating their own milestones. Some of his happiest days were spent working side-by-side with his daughter, Octavia, an amazingly talented painter, watching her bring smiles to children's faces with her artistry.

Tim’s greatest love story began back in high school when he met his wife, Sonya. The two grew from high school sweethearts into lifelong partners. Over their 25 years of marriage, they built a beautiful home anchored in unconditional love, laughter, and traditions that kept them close.

As a father, Tim was unmatched. He lived for his children, Octavia Chynelle Byrd and Timothy “TJ” Byrd Jr., and was bursting with pride over their paths. He was incredibly proud to see Octavia graduate with her master’s degree this past May from Western Connecticut State University and pursue her passion as an artist and educator.

Having played football himself back in high school, Tim experienced a unique joy and immense pride watching TJ continue that legacy, currently in his sophomore year playing college football at Southern Connecticut State University. Tim was truly his children's biggest fan.

Those who knew Tim well knew of his deep love of football and his unwavering loyalty to the Washington Commanders. Every year, attending the season opener became his favorite way to celebrate his birthday.

Yet, for all his business success and passions, Tim was happiest during the simple moments. Every Christmas, the family journeyed to the tree farm to choose their perfect Christmas tree together, a tradition Tim treasured deeply, as it symbolized the togetherness and memory making that meant everything to him.

Music was another source of enjoyment for Tim. Nas and Big Daddy Kane were among his favorite artists, and their music was part of the soundtrack of the life he enjoyed.

Tim’s legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Sonya Minor Byrd; his daughter, Octavia; his son, TJ; his mother, Beverly Byrd; and his brother, Samuel Byrd. He also leaves behind his dear aunts, cousins, a host of extended family members, and a cherished circle of lifelong friends who were truly brothers to him.

Tim will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father, a brilliant entrepreneur, and a loyal friend. Though his absence leaves a profound void, the warmth, love, and laughter he gave will remain with us always.
