Sydney J. Whittaker Obituary (1934

Sydney Janet Morton Whittaker, Daughter of Stanley Madison Morton and Geraldine Arrington Morton both deceased. Was born on December 14, 1934 in Norwalk CT. On Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the age of 87, Sydney transitioned peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family. Sydney attended school in Norwalk Connecticut and graduated with her high school diploma. For over 30 years Sydney worked at U.S. Surgical in Norwalk Ct, then she moved to Bridgeport Ct and finished off her working years at Walmart in Stratford Ct. As the most loved and liked door greeter ever. Sydney retired in 2014. When Sydney was not engaged in enjoying bingo, Pokeno, and putting together a 1,000-piece of jigsaw puzzle she always made time to open up her home to whomever needed her wisdom and love. No matter what your situation was Sydney made sure she gave the best advice and compassion she would give her own children. "The Neighborhood Mom" is who she was. Sydney played the piano with her brothers while watching them practice with their band members. this gave her a passion for music which than trickled down to her children whom then played the chello54 (Cynthia oldest daughter) and (Geraldine daughter) who played the Violin. These are the things that gave her peace and son guitar. Her goal was to maintain peace and keep her family close in mind, heart and spirit. Those that are left to cherish her precious memories are 3 daughter Cynthia J Whittaker (oldest), Donna M Whittaker Keel, James (husband), Karen Whittaker Boykin, John S (husband deceased), Arthur Lee Whittaker Jr, Aracely (wife). Also 2 sisters in West Palm Beach Fl. They are Barbara Jones, Arletha Goods. Daughters that deceased are Geraldine Whittaker Dawkins, Robert (husband), Martha A Whittaker, Mary Whittaker. Sydney also had 3 brothers all deceased. Stanley Morton Jr., Donald Gerald Morton, Oliver Morton. She is also survived by Kevin Morton (nephew), Jeanetta Morton (niece), Paula, Jackie, Pamela (nieces). Grand children Tricia Lopez, Shavonne George, Kelly Whittaker, Arturo Whittaker, James Keel Jr., Maya Diaz, Nichole Whittaker, Linwood Whittaker, Christopher Whittaker, Kamea Boykin and a host of great grand and great great grandchildren. What a blessing to experience 3 generations of your family. We love you Mom and will continue to cherish you forever. May you sleep until the resurrection, and we will see you then.
