Simon Kelly

It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Simon Augustus Kelly who departed this life on April 1, 2026. Born in Portland Parish, Jamaica on July 14, 1933, Simon was a man whose charismatic personality and witty humor lit up every room he entered. He was the kind of man who not only added color and vivacity to life but also stood as a pillar of support to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Simon's journey led him from the vibrant culture of Jamaica to the bustling streets of London and then to the windy city of Chicago, before finally settling down in the welcoming community of Norwalk, Connecticut. He was a master electrician, a profession he loved and excelled at, earning him respect and admiration in the local IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). His work was not only his livelihood but also his passion, reflecting his persistent dedication and relentless resolve.

Away from his workbench and toolkit, Simon was an ardent cricket enthusiast, a passion that he carried from his Caribbean roots. His dedication and skill to the game earned him many awards and accolades. He was not just a player; he was a fervent fan, often spotted cheering for his favorite teams with the same enthusiasm he brought to every other aspect of his life. His infectious laughter, sharp wit, and heartfelt support were a source of comfort for his family, including his daughters Hope Shaw, Rosemarie Kelly, Barbara Abonyi and Sondra Kelly. Simon was a widower, who had lost his beloved wife, Hope Kelly. He was also predeceased by his father Simon Kelly and mother Estella Bryan-Kelly.

There will be a viewing at Baker Funeral Services, 84 South Main Street, Norwalk, Connecticut, 06854, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 9:00amEDT, followed by a celebration of Simon's life at 10:00amEDT at the same venue. The interment will take place later that day at 11:30amEDT at the Riverside Cemetery Association, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut, 06850.
