Samuel McPherson

–

Bridgeport, Connecticut

Samuel McPherson 63, formerly of Olar, South Carolina was born to the late Johnson and Josephine McPherson on September 30, 1944. He departed this life on January 3, 2008 at the Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Connecticut.
Samuel received his formal education in the public schools of Bamberg County. After graduating from Voorhees High School in Denmark, South Carolina, he moved to Norwalk Connecticut where he remained until his death.
Sam fought the fight of a courageous soldier. He was never wiling to give up or give in. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. His favorite saying was, If you want to live, you got to do what you got to do. Even through the doctors gave up on Sam weeks ago; he did not give up on himself. The doctors can estimate on the life-span of a man, but it is God who gives and takes life away. He makes no mistakes. He has all power in his hand. Sam fought the battle, kept the faith and won the victory by accepting Christ in his life.
Oh, what a marvel it was to behold as he humbled himself, parted his lips and smiled with the angels as they came to usher him into heaven. He drew his last breath, as if to say, Lord, I am tired of fighting, I have finished my course, and Im ready to go home to be in your presence. In a moment in time, a quiet sense of peace engulfed his body and his life as we knew it was over. His natural spirit then became the property of God.
Samuel leaves to cherish his memories: Five Children, James (Evelyn) Snider, New Britain, CT; Juan (Katie) McPherson, Morgan Town, NC; April (Rodney) Gist, Bridgeport, CT; LaKenya (Damion) Pace, Trumbull, CT; Lakeisha (Aaron) McPherson, Philadelphia, PA; one brother Marion McPherson, Norwalk, CT; three sisters, Betty (Ambrose) Taylor, Norwalk, CT; Ernestine (Samuel) Washington, Denmark, SC; Marcella Shoffner, Garner, NC; two aunts, Lillie Mae King, Charleston, SC; Gladys Crawford, Norwalk, CT; two sisters-in-law, Constance McPherson and Pauline McPherson, Norwalk, CT; a special friend, Earnestine Mouzon, Norwalk, CT; sixteen grandchildren, a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Two brothers, Johnson and George McPherson preceded him in death.

I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing.
