Portia Lavonne Francis-Crump

Portia Lavonne Francis-Crump was born on February 23, 1967. She peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends at the age of 49.

Portia grew up the eldest of nine children. She attended Bullard Havens High School, graduating class of 1985 in Fashion design and worked as a License Practical Nurse for over 25 years. Portia was very passionate about her career. Portia was loved by all. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her vibrant, loving, and dedicated personality.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished through the lives of her children: Willie C. McBride, III of Trumbull, CT, Derek D. Francis of Cohoes of New York and her only daughter, Tierra R. Francis of Trumbull, CT; two-step children, Joshua and Tyasia Francis. Portias love has been extended to her four grandchildren, Layla McBride, Willie McBride, IV, Bryce Eugram and Nyla Francis.

She is survived by her mother Claire Grace; three brothers, Jacob Crump of New Haven, CT, Rynell Eddy, Durosola and Marcus Crump both of Bridgeport, CT; five sisters; Debora Barker of Georgia, Clarissa Crump of Massachusetts, Carla, Nyesha and Monica Crump all of Bridgeport, CT and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by her father, Solomon L. Crump, Sr. and brothers, Solomon L. Crump Jr. and Lance Eddy. Paternal grandparents, Edward and Carrie Bell Crump and maternal grandparents, John and Claire Grace-Terry.
