Obituary for Mildred Wimberly Williams (Bootsy)

Mildred Wimberly (nee Williams), affectionately known as "Bootsy," was born in Macon, Georgia, on January 1, 1943, and peacefully transitioned into God's eternal rest on January 4, 2025, at the age of 82. "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints," Psalm 116:15. She was the beloved daughter of Aaron and Syretha Wimberly-Booker (both preceded her in death) and one of their three cherished children. From an early age, Mildred's life was guided by her deep faith, as she accepted Christ at Tarversville Baptist Church in Twiggs County, Georgia.

Mildred was a proud graduate of Peter G. Appling High School in Macon, Georgia. Following her graduation, she embarked on a new chapter in Norwalk, Connecticut, where she joined her mother's sisters, Mildred and Carol, and their families, Valerie, Crystle (Chrissy), and Baby-Carol, all of whom preceded her in death. While building a vibrant new life, she met and married Thomas Lee Williams (deceased). Their union was blessed with four wonderful children: Constance Lenore (Connie), Syneetra Alaine (Neet), MSTC, Thomas Williams Rentz (Sandy), Tomalyn DeAnne (Lynn), and Aaron Akil (who preceded her in death).

Mildred was a devoted member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Bridgeport on Logan Street, where her faith and leadership was shown brightly. She led with grace and purpose, organizing holiday shopping bus trips to support Kingdom-building efforts, spearheading Women's Day, Calendar Festivals, and other impactful fundraisers. Her angelic voice graced the Senior Choir, leaving a lasting impression on all who heard her sing. Beyond the church, Mildred was a beacon of light in her community. She joined the East End Council and found joy in reading to children in elementary schools, instilling in them a love for learning and higher education.
Mildred leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will forever be cherished by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Syneetra Alaine (Robert Williams), Tomalyn DeAnne (Charles Jones), Thomas Williams Rentz (Sandy), and Connie Lenore (Clifton Stancil); her grandchildren, Kent Aaron Stephen Williams of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Taiya, Tarra, Laina, and Robert Stancil of Conyers, Georgia. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandra Wimberly Stinson (Chuck) and Aaron Wimberly (Beverly, deceased), of Macon, Georgia, and her sister-in-law, Nola Williams-King of McDonough, Georgia. Her memory will also live on in her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of treasured friends.

Preceding her in death are her siblings, Willa Duvall of Elyria, Ohio, and John Lindsey of Brooklyn, along with her son, Aaron Akil. Mildred's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, and her commitment to making a difference in her community. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
