Melvin Jones

Melvin Louis Jones, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home in Norwalk, CT, at the age of 76.

Melvin (Slim) was born in Baltimore, MD to Thomas and Willie Mae Jones on August 16, 1945. He went to school in Winnsboro, SC, and graduated from Fairfield High School. He worked and retired as a Line Foreman for CL&P for 33 years.

Melvin is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Tracey Jones, Sister Julia Mae Jones, and parents Thomas and Willie Mae Jones.

Melvin is survived by two daughters Yvette Jones, Norwalk, granddaughter Shamese Shular great-granddaughters, Taila and Mariyah, and great-great-granddaughter, Maliyah, Granddaughter Tayhsia: Daughter Teresa Stroman, Granddaughter Alexus (Jeremy) Dickens great-grandson Jalen, grandson Aaron Lynch and great-grandson Amarri Lynch. Son Melvin, Jr. (Atlanta) Stephanie, granddaughters Alexandria and Rachel, great-granddaughter Ariel. Brothers and Sisters, Carolynn (MacArthur) Richmond, Josephine Pearson, Tommie (Doris) Jones, Kenneth (Gloria) Jones, Sandra (Sammy) Sprinkle, and Joey (Jacqueline) Jones, a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews

Melvin enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and being the center of attention. During every event, you knew Melvin was in the area by his presence and distinct ability to have an impact on his surroundings.

You would find Melvin riding around Norwalk spending time with his friends and adding his take on anything from cars, politics, sports, and the happenings in and around Norwalk. In his downtime, you would find him watching classic western movies and football.

Melvin went home to rest unexpectedly. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on. Rest well Slim. You are truly loved.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM, Canaan Institutional Baptist Church, 31 Concord St, Norwalk, CT. Family will receive guest from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Interment will be private.
