Bridgeport, Connecticut

Marilyn "Money" Jones, 79, of Bridgeport entered eternal life on Friday, January 5, 2024. She was born on the great day of August 30, 1944, to the late Mary Ella Jones and Dillard Jones. Even though her name was Marilyn, given by her loving parents, she gained the name of "Money" at a very early age. Many knew her by this name. Marilyn was the eldest of three daughters. She was born and started her life journey in Halifax, Virginia. She later moved to Bridgeport, CT with her parents and family. Marilyn attended and graduated from Central High School. She was blessed to have two daughters, Juliette Lopez (better known to Marilyn as her JuJu) and Sonjinetta Cooper-Seawright. Money and Sonjinetta are reunited together again. Marilyn loved and knew the Lord. She was taught by her parents and ensured her children and family knew of the goodness of Jesus. She wasnt afraid nor ashamed to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone she came in contact with. Money loved clothes and always looking "FLY." She loved to travel and especially liked long car rides. She loved to see what the world had to offer, new people, places and things. She accomplished this by riding the bus and walking around her neighborhood. Marilyn was employed by Remington for many years. Money loved life, family, and her community. Everyone knew her, especially all of the residents of Renaissance Plaza. It was as if she was the mayor of that building. Money was also a giver, and she didnt mind receiving gifts from all she came in contact with. She was truly a protector of those she loved. Money loved to have family gatherings and to cook for everyone. She loved laughter and happy and positive energy. She had a way of making you laugh, even if you were not in the mood to do so; when she finished, you would be laughing. Marilyn is survived by one sister, Evelyn Barnes; 5 grandchildren, Rakeema Lopez, Jessie Lopez, Sonjinetta Seawright, Armoni-Juliette Seawright and Zion Seawright; and 5 great-grandchildren, Jessie, Makayla, Dresden, Jayde, and Jamani. She loved her grands and great-grands and would stop at nothing to ensure they had everything they needed, especially for birthdays, holidays and Christmas. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Evelyn Barnes, Charlie, Jones, Joseph Jackson, TarSharn Barnes, Sears Wright and Kareem Wright, and a best friend, Mr. David Case. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, John Dillard Jones and Mary Ella Terry Jones; 1 daughter, Sonjinetta Cooper-Seawright; 1 sister, Sallie Wright; 2 nephews, Dillard Jones and Anthony Jackson; and 1 niece, Mary Jones. Marilyn "Money" Jones will be missed but never forgotten by so many family and friends. GOD made her to be the extra special person she was and there will be only one Marilyn " Money" Jones. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, 885 Boston Avenue, Bridgeport CT.
