Louie Frank Blackwell

Louie Frank Blackwell, age 80, transitioned peacefully on Saturday, June 24, at Norwalk Hospital. Louie was born February 1st, 1937 to the late Charlie Gaines and Cornelia Blackwell.

He was raised in Anderson, SC., where he attended primary and secondary schools. He graduated from Benedict College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1959. Louie enjoyed a long successful history of employment at the Norwalk Hour Newspaper and Norwalk Community College.
He is survived by his spouse of 50 years, Laura Stewart Blackwell. Daughter, Audrey (Eugene) Lowery, son, Elgin Blackwell: surrogate daughter, Paulette Powell.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 19 Academy St, Norwalk, CT. Reverend Dr. Richard Wesley Clarke Pastor/Officiating. Internment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Ave, Norwalk, CT.
All donations can be made to Bethel AME Church, Norwalk in memory of Louie Blackwell.
