Laura Esther Johnson

–

Woodbridge, Connecticut

Laura Esther Johnson, affectionately known as Little Babe to those closest to her, has completed her earthly journey as of August 9, 2026. Born on February 27, 1931, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Laura spent her 95 years filling the lives of those around her with love, resilience, and an unmatched generosity of spirit. She resided in Bridgeport, Connecticut, but her heart was always home, wherever her loved ones were.

Laura was an empathetic soul who dedicated her professional life to helping others as a social worker for over 25 years in the State of Connecticut. She was the embodiment of the quote, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." Her love for her work was only surpassed by her love for her family. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and caretaker, she raised her granddaughter, Rosette, and helped raise many other children, providing a loving home and a safe haven for those who needed it most. Laura's resilience was an inspiration to all who knew her, a testament to her strength, and a legacy for the family she cherished.

A lover of suspense novels, cowboy movies and music, Laura was also known for her keen intellect and curiosity. Her radiant smile and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by her surviving family; her son, Taariq Haneef; her son, Terrence Johnson, her daughter Laverne Brenda Johnson and her granddaughter, Rosette (Sha-Sha)Johnson; granddaughter Marqunita Patterson, granddaughter Chardeja Patterson her grandson Sean Patterson and Great grandson Curtis Elijah Void. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bayliss Curran and Laura Davis, and her beloved husband, Charles Johnson.

We invite you to leave your memories of Laura and upload photos to the memorial page, as we continue to celebrate the remarkable life of this extraordinary woman. Your stories, reflections, and images will help keep Laura's spirit alive in our hearts, reminding us of the love and joy she brought into our lives. "The song has ended, but the melody lingers on."
