Jerome Westfield Terry

Reverend Jerome Westfield Terry passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Originally from Hartsville, SC, he was a long time resident of West Haven, CT. He was a professional boxer from 1957-1962 and was a member of Mount Rona Lodge 348, Prince Hall of Hartsville, SC. He was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield for twenty years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of Community Baptist Church of New Haven, CT and in 1984 was licensed to preach the gospel ministry. Rev. Terry became an ordained minister in 1991 and pastored St. James Missionary Baptist Church of South Norwalk, CT for eighteen years before retiring in 2009.
Rev. Terry is survived by four children, Rev. Heath Jerome Terry of West Haven, CT, Mark S. Williams of Hartford, CT, Marvin B. Eddy of Florence, SC, and Catherine Jenkins of Hamden, CT; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan V. Terry and sister, Janie Lee Owens.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Rockland Rd, S. Norwalk, CT 06854. The viewing will begin at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd., New Haven, CT 06519.
