James Garfield Mahan, Jr.

James Mahan, Jr., age 68, of Stratford, died on Friday, December 2, 2016. He was born on January 30, 1948 in Bridgeport; the middle child of Doris Mahan and the late James Mahan, Sr.

He was raised in Bridgeport where he attended Central High School.

James was married to Wanda McDonald at Russell temple AME Church in Bridgeport 18 years ago. They resided in Stratford.

He worked as a teenager at Howard Johnson in Stratford and also Ductile Iron Foundry. James recently retired from employment with the City of Bridgeport where he worked for 10 years.

He was an accomplished bowler, pool enthusiast and card player.

James loved his family and friends. You could always find him giving advice to family and supporting them in any endeavor that they may undertook. He was loved by many members within the community who knew that they could count on him for help for anything at any time. He always felt that family came first and would try his best to keep them all together.

In addition to his loving wife, Wanda Mahan and his mother, Doris Mahan, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Nicole Nikky Ladonne Rouse; grandchildren, Davon Pratt, Dion Pratt and Dashon Pratt; two brothers, Donald Kirkland-Mahan and Larry Mahan; one sister, Charlene Mahan of Cleveland, Ohio; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
