On Monday, October 10th, 2022, God called His fearless servant and beloved daughter, Eltina Lucas, into His eternal rest. Eltina was born on April 13, 1947, and was joyously welcomed into the world by the late Thomas Ernesto Lucas from the Dominican Republic and Florence Stevens from Guadeloupe. Her parents were hardworking and devoted to raising her well. Her father was doting, and her mother was a proud woman of faith. She had one brother who was 17 years older than her. Due to the age difference, they did not grow up together, but her late brother, M. Macaskill, had three daughters. She maintained a bond with her nieces and loved them as if they were her siblings. Tina, (as she preferred to be called in her later years) was raised in Antigua, West Indies and developed an appreciation for the beauty of the island. She would often boast to her children of Antiguas breathtaking beaches... "365 beaches, one for every day of the year." Tina matriculated through the Antiguan school system and was a standout student. She loved to read and write. Her penmanship and grammar were flawless.
Much like her parents, Tina was hardworking and as a young woman took her savings to move off the island to explore and find her way. When she came to the states and started her own family, Tina worked hard to give her children the best opportunities and a stellar education. As she evolved and matured, her inherent faith in God helped her to teach her children to fear God and seek Him as well. She was fiercely independent and industrious. Her discipline and entrepreneurial drive helped her to open several businesses throughout her career. Tina was extraordinarily creative and at one point made silk flower jewelry. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a loving grandmother, an entrepreneur, a pastor, a global intercessor, and a proud child of God!
In the early seventies, Tina married Robert Foster Sr. They made their start in Connecticut where they raised three children in the fear and admonishing of God. She was voracious in her love of bible study and prayer. She was an ordained pastor and demonstrated the love of Christ to believers and non-believers alike. She just loved people. Her zeal was infectious, and she impacted the lives of everyone in her sphere of influence. In her later years, she served faithfully at New Vision International Ministries in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She enjoyed fellowshipping and sharing with Gods people. Eltina discerned that she was called to serve the Kingdom as a global intercessor. She embraced the labor-intensive task of interceding for the masses and bringing their cares before a mighty God. She not only prayed prayers strategically crafted by the Holy Spirit, but she took time to write out the prayers she heard. She desperately wanted others to know and understand the breadth and width of Gods love for all people. One of her prayers reads as follows:
Lord, please help us not to sin, blaspheme, offend, or insult Your Majesty because no matter our status or beliefs, "You made us, we did not make ourselves. We are Your people, the sheep of Your pasture." Ps. 100. We are grateful, Lord, You shed Your precious blood for the remission of our sins. Cause us to understand that You paid a debt You did not create or owe. Let us not be callous and numb to Your love and invitation to accept You as savior and friend. Let us not take for granted the life you have given and presume we can live carelessly and remain unmovable in a sinful condition and yet see Your face when this life is over. Convict our heart, mind, and body to readily repent. Teach us to make necessary arrangements while we are alive so eternal life with You is the outcome of our spiritual transition. Show us how to steward our days so we may apply our hearts unto wisdom... wisdom that will cause us to seek You while we are alive to find You. For when the flesh of men perishes, the opportunity to receive the gift of eternal life has passed.
Eltina was predeceased by her husband Robert Foster Sr., and her youngest child, Sharainia Foster. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Jonel Lucas (Katrice) of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Foster Jr., of Charlotte, North Carolina and one daughter: Sheana Elliott (Chris) of Shelton, Connecticut. She adored her 6 grandchildren and beloved nieces.
In Lieu of flowers the family would like all donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association in the name of Eltina Lucas. Donate by using the link below:
