Catherine McCready

Catherine Jean McCready was born January 18, 1944 to the late Bertha and Archie Leatherbury in Princess Anne, Maryland. She departed this life on March 7, 2012 at home where she was surrounded by her loved ones. Catherine was the second of six children.

Catherine was raised in a Christian home. The McCready Family were faithful members of New Bethel AME Church in Stone Mountain, GA. Prior to moving to Georgia, she was a member of Bethel AME Norwalk where she served as an usher. Catherine was educated in the public schools of Somerset County, Maryland.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Leatherbury and Thomas Leatherbury.

Catherine leaves to cherish many fond memories, her loving husband of 50 years Donald L. McCready, Sr of Stone Mountain, GA; one daughter Donna King (Carl) of Stone Mountain, GA; two sons Donald L.McCready, Jr of Norwalk, CT and Darron P. McCready (Amy) of Bethel, CT; five grandchildren Lakeisha Wright, Darius King, Dominique King, Kaila McCready and Brandon McCready; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Archie Leatherbury (Barbara) of Wilmington, DE; two sisters, Pauline Oakley (Isaiah) of Salisbury, MD, and Normalee Disharoom of Princess Anne, MD; one uncle, Francis Christopher of Eden, MD; one aunt Agnes Eason of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Bethel AME Church, 19 Academy Street, Norwalk, CT 068850. The viewing will begin at 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
