Conyers, Georgia
Angela B. “Dee Dee” Johnson, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, friend, and fighter, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 18, 2026, at Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers, Georgia. She was 60 years old and had been a cherished resident of Georgia for 16 years.
Angela was born on January 7, 1966, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Caroline Johnson and Alan Mason. Affectionately known as “Dee Dee,” Angela was a phenomenal woman whose presence, wisdom, humor, strength, and unconditional love touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Growing up in Father Panik Village, Angela and her family were raised together, forged by life’s challenges, and strengthened by an unbreakable bond. Her childhood was filled with adventures, hard work, laughter, family gatherings, get-rich-quick schemes, parties, and countless memories that could fill a lifetime of stories. Family was at the center of Angela’s heart. She lived by the principle she learned from her mother: love, celebrate, and protect your family.
Angela was a woman who believed in herself and refused to allow challenges or obstacles to hold her back. She lived boldly and without fear, offering wisdom beyond her years and remaining only a phone call away whenever someone needed her. She was known as the family’s unofficial publicist—the person everyone called to make sure the family had the right information. She was also lovingly referred to as “the doctor without a Ph.D.” because of her remarkable knowledge in healthcare, caring nature, and ability to offer guidance when it was needed most.
Angela attended Warren Harding High School, where she earned her diploma, and later attended Housatonic Community College. She pursued a career in the medical field and dedicated more than 25 years to helping others. Her professional journey included working in doctors’ offices as a medical assistant, providing care as a nurse’s aide, driving buses for Marta along with a slew of “various odd jobs”. Her commitment to her profession reflected the compassion, determination, and strength that characterized her throughout her life.
Angela loved her family and friends unconditionally, standing beside them through both the highs and the lows. Her relationships were unique and special, and those who knew her understood the depth of her heart. Whether she was offering advice, making someone laugh, checking on a loved one, or simply being present, Angela made an impact.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Caroline Johnson; her brothers, Lee Robert Johnson and Levi Johnson; her grandparents, A.J. and Gladys Johnson; aunts Barbara Ashley, Mary Daniels, Ruby Murphy, and Anna Gregory; uncles Eugene Johnson, Tracey Johnson, Richard Johnson, Michael Johnson, and Samuel Johnson; her niece Karizmah; and great-nephews Kyleen and Karson.
Angela leaves to cherish her beautiful memory and carry forward her legacy, her three sons: Kaleff (Vandrea) Johnson, Angel (Yunko) Johnson, and Kasle (Selam) McGlashan; her grandchildren, Isaiah, Xai, Kaylie, and Halo; and her siblings, Sophia Perez, Jarvis Johnson, Jacqueline Johnson, Yolanda Johnson, Kim Buster, Adam Buster, Isy Mason, Darcell Mason, Sandra Mason, Lonny Mason, Allen Mason, and Tyler Holt.
She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, Phyre Corwell, Sieveign Johnson, Brandaeyjiah Landers, Alese Johnson, Zuri Waruingi, Justice Johnson, Paige Gregory, and Nina Gregory, Kanezia Gregory; nephews, Bobby Corwell, Zeequan Groves, and Scevynne Johnson; great-nephews Kenzo Corwell and Khylo Hall; her aunt, Lea M. Johnson of Georgia; her running partner and cousins, Sandra Ortiz, Jennifer Daniels, and Kassia Gregory; and a host of loving cousins, relatives, and wonderful friends.
Angela believed that family extended beyond bloodlines. To those she loved, she made no distinction between relatives and friends. If you were part of her life, you were family.
